By joining, PERI commits to aligning its corporate actions with the ten universal sustainability principles of the UN Global Compact. These principles cover topics such as human rights, discrimination, environmental protection and anti-corruption.
With this step, PERI is a pioneer in its industries with regard to responsible, sustainable and transparent business. Worldwide, only 85 companies in the construction sector have signed the UN Global Compact so far.
"As a family business, sustainable action and social responsibility have always been important values that drive us. By signing, we want to emphasize this commitment," says Christian Schwörer, CEO of PERI SE. "Sustainable management is an essential factor for the long-term success of our company. We want to strategically anchor sustainability along the value and supply chain."
Even before joining the UN Global Compact, PERI had already implemented various measures to support the sustainability principles. These were bundled in the group-wide sustainability strategy "Building Sustainability" in 2021. In a progress report to the UN Global Compact, the company will in future provide regular information on the status and ongoing activities.
As part of its sustainability strategy, the family business has set ambitious goals until 2025, including climate neutrality since 2021, the annual reduction of CO2 emissions, the nature-oriented design of properties and the promotion of education in developing countries through the annual construction of a school.
